FINISHED!!! So Have A Sample

The other night at about 3am I finished Fated Betrayal, and now it was off with my editor.
I know you are all wondering what took me so long, let me just say that the details and events from this one have a large impact on the next. Placing everything perfectly was challegning, but it was worth the effort I put into it.

And since I am in such a good mood that this book is finally nearing that point of absolute completion, I'm going to share an excerpt.

Be kind this is right from the manuscript without the brilliant eye of my editor. So it is going to be rough, but you guys get the idea. :)

The comfort grew deeper and engulfed me in pure peace like I had never felt before, and suddenly the last three centenaries of horrors in my life vanished. I could live here... Forever.
Serenity? A haunting voice called in my mind. Stay with me, please stay.
No, I need to sleep. I answered back.
            Mysterious, don't give up… I need you.
That name. It wasn't my name but it meant something, something deep.
            Yes…Yes, I'll stay with you.
I thought the words but really I wanted to remain in this peaceful state, this perfect mellow ignorance of what was happening around me, when haunting images of my past flooded into my perfect world.
The rich taste of blood coated my lips and mouth. The mystery of a time I had lingered over for countless hours suddenly became so clear. The distance memory of honyed clove suddenly made so much sense, a burning reminder filled that scar on my chest. It made my heart raced in a mix of fear and hatred. The creature with me roared with need of revenge and for the second time in my life it and I were one in the most terrifyingly wonderful feeling of complete power.
I opened my eyes to find my vision was perfect, no it was better then perfect. I saw everything so much clearly then I had before. Cret was there, his honey flavor all over my lips. It must have been his blood that awoke me from my sleep. His blood that halted Vondorian's poison, I would be sure to repay him.
I watched as Ryder forced Cret back in a rage, her blade baring down on him but I was there before she could strike. Catching her sword with my bare hand I forced Ryder back and she fell to the ground. Fear coated that plum gaze of hers and it thrilled me to see my rival in a such a state.
In all the years we had battled, sparred, and fought for our master's affection she never once showed me an ounce of fear. There was only hate in her eyes for me, a look of superiority even when I bested her in battle.
This one look, that look of pure terror in Ryder's eyes rushed the urge to kill her to the forefront of my mind. I wanted to murder, I wanted to kill... And I knew just who would be my first victim tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving Giveaway

Despite the fact I have slept maybe three hours do to a dream about a homicidal teddy-bear, I'm feeling very good. Today is Thanksgiving after all and I am looking forward to visiting my in-laws, making a tasty cake, and some rocking mashed potatoes. Even made extra gravy because the ratio between potatoes and gravy always seems off.

I also want to share the awesomeness and spirit of this holiday that is often over run with sales, companies that have no concept of family time, and early early x-mas decorations.
So I am giving away a signed copy of Immortal Tempest for my fans in the US. Enter at the end of this post, but hurry it ends tonight at mid-night.

In the meantime I have another treat for everyone. The next two books in the series will be out mid December and I have just finished the covers. Now I don't have any teasers or book blurbs for you yet, but they are coming. So enjoy the covers, enter the giveaway, eat lots of food, and just be thankful you have a family to spend time with.
And if you don't have family to spend time with, then be thankful you don't have to deal with that strange aunt no one wants to see drunk, your mother or mother in-law complaining about dry turkey, and rejoice in the fact you get to eat the whole punkin pie yourself without anyone knowing.

Where Are You?!

I know I have been random about my posting, and I know I promised more updates this month but my life has gotten insane. When I say insane, I mean nights were I get maybe three hours sleep.
This last month I have been helping my mommy look for a new house in a new town for her new job. The move is this weekend and it has been nuts getting everything packed a ready to go. On top of that I am relaunching my Etsy Shop next week, plus I am working on a few treats for everyone along with writing, writing, and more writing.
Yeah busy right?
My brain is just overwhelmed with it, but I do have an awesome teaser for you from Fate Betrayal, book two of the Opsona Journey. Hopefully it will be out mid November along with book 3 (still untitled).

Then & Now

I know I have talked and shown some of my old artwork off before. I find it is important to sometimes look at the older stuff, as an artist I tend to forget how far I have come. My work is always being critiqued and reviewed against top artist today, it is hard taking those hits and after awhile it really starts to damage a person.
You can roll with the punches all you want but sooner or later it takes it toll, and then you end up comparing yourself to other artist.
At that point you become your own worst enemy. The negative voice in the back of your head just keeps telling you how much you are flawed, but that is crap. Art, like everything, is a  journey and you have to see just how far you have come to appreciate where you are now.
With that being said I want to share some more artwork and progressions I have made.
I was panning through my Rebryn file and stumbled across a few old drawings, take a look at how my work and characters have progressed.
Mysterious aka Serenity
Anyone that reads this blog knows and has seen Mysterious before. I have drawn her the most and just look at how far she has come. Fairly awesome if you ask me.
Mysterious Rebryn has lived through so much and beyond a countable number of years. Why?
Because it is just fun that way and I said so. She is married to her life mate Ragnar, they have been together for well over a millennia. Up until recently (like a year ago) she only had two daughters, Shea & Eeva.
Me and my role playing buddy have just increased the family to include twins Saiye and Sebastian. (I don't have any drawings of them yet, but hopefully soon. )

Shea Rebryn
Alright on to Shea, she is also one of my characters and a real party to write and draw.

Shea Rebryn is the oldest daughter and is a complete handful, she is very much into living it up. Adrenaline junky, sexual, and loves to have a good time Shea is always getting into trouble. Mated (note I say mated but not married) to a rather jerk of a demon named Kai. They have a son named Kei (also don't have any drawings of him yet but I am dieing to sketch him) who is promising to be a very powerful demon as he grows up. He has his father's short temper and Shea's lust for life.

Eeva Rebryn
Finally the last one I have is Eeva, she is not one of my characters. She is actually the creation of my very dear friend and long time role playing buddy (Ragnar, Sebastian, & Kai are also hers).

Eeva Rebryn used to be the youngest daughter and a very troubled person as well. Eeva is very much the black sheep of the family and has followed the dark path of her mother. She has even killed family members and tried to kill Kei. Eeva was drawn into the seduction of Vondorian (Mysterious master in her past). He completely twisted her soul and she ended up losing her sight just to regain control of herself. Hence the bandage. Her eyes often bleed but she uses her skilled magical abilities to find her way around. She is currently in a relationship with Cealyn (one of my characters :P I have so many) who is a pure blooded angel that has helped the Rebryn family throughout their struggles, her father threw her out of the heavens for loving Eeva.

These characters are decades in the making and it is so wonderful to see where they started from in my head and where they are now.

Friday Movie Review: Haunting Of Cellblock 11

It is Friday yet again and I am here with another movie review. Yeah I only did one movie this week, it has been a very busy week for me.
I feel like I have gone sane by how much work I have been doing.
This week I was going to watch The Woman in Black, but my stream was not liking that movie for some reason.
Hopefully next time my streaming won't be as impossible.

To this week's movie
Haunting Of Cellblock 11
When this movie first started I rolled my eyes. The overall feel of the movie and the camera work was leaving a lot to be desired.

This movie has some very redeeming points and I enjoyed it, so I am giving it a solid three screams of blood chilling enjoyment!
Spoiler Warning
Go no farther if you plan on watching this movie
You have been warned!
Lets get the crappy stuff out of the way.
Here is what made this movie fall short of four screams
 Ghost Bomb!
Okay so I forgot what they called it in the movie, but it is this little disk thing the negates all the energy in the area to cancel out a ghost's energy. While that would be awesome if they were Ghostbusters, having that when your a paranormal investigator and trying to attract ghosts kind of seems pointless. It does coming in handy, but honestly don't you want to attract the ghosts not scare then away?

Over Acting
The towns people and all the hush hush about the prison is a little over the top. The main group of actors is fine, but those towns people trying to be creepy just isn't working. They end up being strange and make me think of the Hills Have Eyes with cartoonish acting.

Bad Accents
So it was like three lines in the whole movie, and yes I am complaining about about the towns people. Honestly they only show up for about 5 minutes in the movie, but it has given me a lot to dislike. The southern account on the waitress at the dinner is insanely awful. Just mute the movie for that small part and you will be fine.

Shadowman Clip
There is a small flash of a man walking down a hall captured on one of their cameras. It looks very similar to one I have seen on a paranormal ghost hunting show. It also looks very much like a clip I have seen floating around the internet. Extremely FAKE!

Watching Friends Mauling
Yes that is right. These two guys watch as their other friend is dragged into a cell. It sounds like he is getting ripped about and cut, there is even a little garbled noise that comes from the cell. They just stand there and watch and when all is silent they ask if he is alright. That is just messed up.

Enough with the bad mouthing, lets move on to the good stuff.

No Editing
So the network that is funding their show wants them to "edit" their footage to show more ghost stuff like other shows to get more views. The team refuses to use the "edit" aka CGI buttom to make it look like they have spotted a ghost. That is very noble.

I really love the little recreations of the stories that are told in the prison before the investigation begins. I am a sucker for creepy retelling of tragic history. So I loved these.

Show Host
The guy that does the hosting in this movie is awesome. When that camera is not on for their ghost show he talks normal and is a likable character. Then when they start shooting the show he gets this really cool host/nature show host voice going. It is slightly dramatized but not enough to make you roll your eyes. Just enough to make a little chuckle and a smile every time he does it. I loved it.

3... 2...
The ending was awesome, the little twist of the sweet old man turning dark at the end was AWESOME. What was even better was the couples reaction.
After giving a dramatic countdown from three they give him the # one finger and walk out locking the door behind them. Leaving the jerk of an old man to his fate.
